1. Introduction

Race and Racism? I think, these are very familiar words for you. Other hand these are very common words in the society that we can hear day to day. Racism is a very cruel thing in the society. Due to the racism, there are lots of   problem have been risen in the society. Suspicion, misunderstanding, and collision are the most common problems in the society because of racism. It directly causes for the developing of a country.

2. RACE & RACISM

Before entering the discussion, to get know about race, racism and why we are misunderstanding race and racism, let us have a small interpretation.

2.1 WHAT IS RACE?

A category of people who have been recognized out on basis of physical characteristics such as skin color, eye shape, or color of hair is defined as race. Therefore, we can say that there is a biological background between races.

2.2WHAT IS RACISM

This is the main point what I want to carry out. Racism can be defined as involving in rejection of traditional beliefs and carrying negative racial feelings to the society. According to my opinion, major effect for this social hazard is political issues.

2.3 MISUNDERSTANDING RACE AND RACISM

Most people have misunderstood the race and racism. Without knowing clear idea about race and racism they are used to spread the racism among nation. Even they do not know how to distinguish these differences. But they talk about racism. They do hate speeches against another nation. Finally, these things end with large disasters with suspicion, misunderstanding, and collision between nations. That is why we have to stop the racism. Most of you have seen hate speeches against some nations in social media. This is the place which begin the racism. You have to act against them. Do not afraid of standing up for racism.

 3. EXPERIENCE RELEVANT TO RACISM

3.1 RACISM AGAINST MUSLIMS

In this section I am going to talk about a real incident which was happened in Sri Lanka. I think it was happened in year 2014 in Aluthgama and Darga Town which belong to Kalutara district. There was a huge campaign against Muslims with hate speeches. Both Sinhalese and Muslims argues with each other making hate speeches. Instead of understanding each other what they did? They did verbal attacks underestimating another race. Finally, what happened? They attack each other physically. Due to this collision, there were loss of valuable lives. Property damages were also happened. This is not the most important thing. Between two races, suspicion was developed. Finally, what happened? Can you remember the Ester attack which was happened in 2019? Can you guess what the reason for this? As an extension, that was the climax of racism between these two races. I think you have an idea about dangerous of racism. Therefore, racism should not be acceptable. We have to stand up against racism.

3.2 MY MIND

When my age was about 16 or 17, I had ideas about racism. I was thinking Sinhalese is the major part of Sri Lanka, and therefore other races were not needed for this country. I used to look other races suspiciously. I was always thinking that they were going against us. But my father’s opinion was different. I argue with him. I wanted to show that my opinion was correct. But, by the time, I understood the opinion I was carried out was wrong. That racism ideas spoiled my mind. I did not trust anyone from other races. I was supposed to look other races suspiciously. Now you have understood bad side of racism. Therefore, racism should not be acceptable.

4.0 WHY SHOULD WE AVOID RACISM

According to a study of school students found that racism had huge psychological state impacts on children who experience it. It effects on ongoing feelings of sadness, anger, depression and being overlooked, headaches, increased pulse, sweating, trembling and muscle tension and a continuing fear of being verbally or physically attacked. These are some individual effects of racism. As society it can reduce people's ability to figure or study, and to realize their future goals. Racism creates a society where people don't trust and respect one another. Now you should be able to understand why we should avoid racism. This directly effect on the developing of a country. Counties which are encourage the racism are poor. As an example, countries like Libya, Palestine are most racist counties in the world. How about their economy? How about their education? Please look at them carefully. Without trust how we develop the country?    We can develop the country if we are unity otherwise the country will be destroyed. Therefore, racism must not be acceptable. We must stand up against racism.

5.0 CONCLUSION

From this article I think I have given certain reason for why we should avoid the racism. Racism effect on the developing of a country. Never support racism. Stand up for unity. There are people dying. All we are human. Make it a better place for you and for me and the entire human race. Learn lessons from the past. Let us go together.
